Obituary of Nuno M. Pereira Sr.

Nuno M. Pereira Sr., age 72, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Maria Fatima Martins Pereira, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 16, 1952 in Estoril, Lisbon, Portugal, he was a son of the late Fortunato and Filomena Ramos Pereira. Nuno immigrated to the United States in 1969, settling in Bridgeport.

He was employed as a security guard for the City of Bridgeport Board of Education and had 30 years of dedicated service before his retirement. He was a fan of S.L. Benfica and enjoyed time with his friends at the Vasco da Gama Club watching soccer. But above all he was a dedicated father, brother and uncle. The unconditional love he gave and the values he instilled will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his two cherished sons, Nuno Pereira Jr. and Daniel Pereira, his three brothers, Deacon Gabriel Pereira, Antonio Pereira and Nelson Pereira, a sister, Maria do Ceu Pereira, two Goddaughters, Sandy Alves and Lucy Smetak, sisters and brothers-in-law, Maria Lucilia Gomes, Lino Martins and wife Roseanne, Tony Martins, Louisa Mobilio, and Ann Soto and husband John, cousins, Carlos Gomes, Joe, Jack, Tony and Deolinda Mota as well as several additional nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Albertina Pereira.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
