Obituary of Frank C. Oliva, Sr.

Frank C. Oliva, Sr., beloved husband, father, and friend, died on December 4, 2025, at home, at the age of 68, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Frank was born on June 5, 1957, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Sophie Demsick Raslavsky. He grew up in the Bridgeport area, where he developed the quick wit, practical skills, and stubborn determination that would carry him through life.

Frank proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Jason during the Vietnam era.

Over the years, Frank worked as a Special Effects Technician in I.A.T.S.E. Local 52, where he was known for his creative mind, problem-solving, and brutal honesty. He took great pride in his work and in the crews he worked alongside.

Frank was proudly sober for 43 years and devoted himself to helping others in Alcoholics Anonymous. He shared his experience, strength, and hope with countless people over the years, and the impact of that service will continue long after his passing.

What mattered most to Frank were the beings and things he loved: his son, Frank Jr., of whom he was very proud; his dog, Phoebe; and his beloved 1959 Chevy Apache truck. He especially enjoyed taking Phoebe for walks on the beach and drives, fixing up his Chevy Apache with his cousin Danny, and spending fun times with Tucker and Tatum and repairing things for them whenever they needed a hand. Frank also loved Sunday breakfasts with his friends. He was deeply grateful for his good neighbors, the Artiga family, and his friend Maynor, whose kindness and support meant so much to him. He will be remembered for his fierce loyalty, sharp humor, and his willingness to show up when someone needed help.

Frank is survived by his wife, Francine, and his son, Frank Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophie and Edward Raslavsky.

Friends may greet the family on Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Words of remembrance will be shared beginning at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA, P.O.
