Obituary of Eileen V. Paoletta

Eileen V. Eaton Paoletta, age 89, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in London, England on July 2, 1936, she was the cherished daughter of the late William and May Mary (Cunningham) Eaton, and one of five spirited sisters.

From an early age, Eileen showed remarkable determination and talent. She was a competitive swimmer who earned numerous trophies and medals, including the Hampstead Ladies S.C. Breaststroke Champion (Under 14) in 1949. Before immigrating to the United States, she worked for the U.S. Naval Activities Office in London.

Eileen devoted her life to her family, nurturing six children with unwavering love, curiosity, and encouragement. Later in life, she returned to the workforce and contributed her skills in administrative roles at Avco-Lycoming/Textron, Fairfield University, Empowering Writers, and finally Sacred Heart University, where she retired. A lifelong learner, she enrolled in adult education courses and volunteered in local schools and libraries, where she especially enjoyed reading to young children.

She held a deep appreciation for the arts, including theatre, film, music, and museums. An avid reader, she embraced many genres and read with both passion and thoughtfulness. One of her proudest accomplishments came in 2009, when she became a United States citizen.

Eileen lived with grace, courage, and a joyful spirit. She warmly welcomed others into her home, never missing an opportunity to gather, celebrate, or simply enjoy time with family and friends. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as "Grandma No Way" and "Nonna," a title she wore with pride and one that came with countless memories of laughter, care, and the very best babysitter anyone could ask for.

In her youth, Eileen modeled fashion in England and throughout her life she maintained an elegant sense of style and a natural eye for decorating. She moved through life with beauty, kindness, and a generous heart, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.

Survivors include her four loving children; Hugh Paoletta, Andrea Paoletta, Mark Paoletta and his wife Tricia and Paul Paoletta and his wife Marina, a daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Paoletta, a sister, Dorothy Nicholson and ten grandchildren; Sarah Spelman and her partner Sandra, Matthew Paoletta and his wife Danielle, Jordan Paoletta and her husband Steve, Jonathan Paoletta and his wife Samantha, Joe Paoletta, Tessa Paoletta and her husband Callum, Clare Paoletta, Isobel Paoletta, Sofia Paoletta and Emma Paoletta as well as three cherished great grandchildren; Jack Spelman, Theodore Paoletta and Griffin Paoletta. She was predeceased by sons; Robert and Joseph S. Paoletta, sisters; Patricia Osmond, Joyce Maher, Janet Kinnally, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Paoletta, and her former spouse, Joseph A. Paoletta.
