Obituary of Maureen Soares

Maureen Lundquist Soares, age 83, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Joseph Soares, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Northbridge. Born in Bridgeport on July 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Walsh) Lundquist and was a lifelong city resident.

Maureen was a member of FAR, an organization for the welfare of those with down syndrome. She was also an active member of the Special Police Wives and the Knights of Columbus along with her husband where she served as a Columbiette. Family was always most important to Maureen and her fondest memories where those spent with her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband Joe of 61 years, survivors include her three loving children, Theresa Wallace and her husband Jeff, Vincent Soares and Tina Soares (Ray Ostrum), a brother, Michael Lundquist and six cherished grandchildren, Justina Wallace, Sabrina Wallace, Erica Wallace, William Godfrey, Jr., Joseph Godfrey and Patrick Godfrey as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, 535 Anton St., Bridgeport. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
