Obituary of Sandra Niedermeier

Sandra Knablin Niedermeier, age 91, of Cheshire, formerly of Milford and Fairfield, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 10, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 69 years to the late Donald T. Niedermeier. Born in Bridgeport on December 26, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Phyllis (Walker) Knablin.

Sandra graduated from Central High School, Class of 1950 and upon graduating from Dean Junior College in Massachusetts she began her career as a Medical Secretary at Bridgeport Hospital. She loved her job at the hospital and retired at the age of 70 after 40 years of dedicated service. In 1956 Sandy married her best friend's brother, Donald T. Niedermeier. They moved to Stepney and then to Fairfield where they raised their children. They then moved to Walnut Beach in Milford, CT where they provided wonderful memories and cook outs for family and friends.

She was a wonderful mother to her four devoted daughters, Holly Fischer (Karl) of Stratford, Jill Fitzpatrick (Ray) of Carmel, IN, Cindy Niedermeier of Bridgeport, and Shari Thornberg (Chris) of Newtown. She also leaves to cherish her memory eight beloved grandchildren, six cherished great- grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Carol O'Brien (Fred) of CA as well as many wonderful and loving nieces and nephews who loved and appreciated her. Her generous spirit and frugality allowed all of her family to experience a trip, or trips, to Disney World, which she and Donald adored. She made sure that all of her children and grandchildren experienced going to NYC to see The Christmas Spectacular, Broadway shows, and concerts. She was a proficient knitter, crocheter and sewer and everyone she knew received a hand-made gift from her. She was an excellent cook and baker and had the ability to make entertaining look so easy when making a delicious meal for family and friends or preparing a feast for the holidays with family. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by family. Sandy was a great friend to many, past and present.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the incredible staff at Elim Park, especially the amazing care given to our mother from ALSA Services.

All funeral services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
