Obituary of Victor Michael Verrastro
Victor Michael Verrastro, age 81, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Victor will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, and the many cherished memories he created with those he loved most.
Born in Stamford, Connecticut, on December 11, 1943, Victor was the son of the late Angelo and Angelina (Piro) Verrastro. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, June Verrastro; his brother, Angelo Verrastro; his grandmother, Margherita (Mecca) Verrastro, who helped raise him; his grandfather, Vito Antonio Verrastro; and his stepmother, Lucy Verrastro.
Victor proudly served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Cu Chi, Vietnam. His courage and sense of duty were matched only by his dedication to family and his strong work ethic—qualities that defined his life.
He began his career with the Stamford Water Company and retired after 40 years with Aquarion Water Company. Victor lived in Trumbull for many years, where he enjoyed playing softball with friends. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Pine Island, Florida, and later settled in Vero Beach, where they shared many happy years and lasting friendships.
Victor was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a hardworking man who often held two jobs to provide for those he loved. A lifelong fan of the New York Giants and New York Mets, Victor attended the 1987 Super Bowl in Pasadena to cheer on his beloved "Big Blue." He shared his passion for football with his daughter, Marlo, and grandson, LJ, spending countless hours watching games, talking sports, and creating treasured memories together.
A true lover of music, Victor found joy in listening to doo-wop classics, Donna Summer, Paul Anka, and Frank Sinatra. Music was a constant presence in his life, bringing him comfort, nostalgia, and happiness throughout the years.
Victor is survived by his daughter, Marlo Verrastro-Ruggiero; his grandson, LJ Ruggiero, both of Seymour, Connecticut; and his brother, Anthony Verrastro (Carol) of Stamford, Connecticut. He is also survived by many cousins in Connecticut, Avigliano, Italy—where his grandparents emigrated from—and extended family from his wife's side in the United Kingdom.
Victor's sense of humor could light up a room, and his thoughtful, caring nature made everyone who knew him feel valued and loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church/St. Nicholas Parish, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour.
