Obituary of Tracey A. Adkins

Tracey Ann (Sterback) Adkins, age 62, of Shelton, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Frank Adkins for 37 wonderful years.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on March 5, 1963, Tracey was the daughter of the late Rudolph Sterback and Carol Sterback, who survives her and resides in Shelton.

In addition to her husband, Frank, Tracey leaves behind her cherished daughter, Ashley Adkins of Naugatuck, and her beloved granddaughter, Chloe Flynn, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Susan Hudson of Florida and Kelly (Jeff) Soisson of Beacon Falls; and by her adored nephews Jeff, Chris, Greg, Kyle, and Jason. Tracey will be deeply missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

A proud graduate of Shelton Public Schools, Tracey went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina and later obtained a Master's degree in Information Technology from Arizona State University. Her career was marked by innovation, leadership, and dedication, with impactful roles at Microsoft, Shelton Public Schools, and other consulting positions where she shared her vision for technological advancement and growth.

Tracey was an active member and past President of her local Toastmasters International chapter, where she inspired many through her eloquence and leadership.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tracey embraced life with passion and curiosity. She was an avid cyclist, a devoted fan of Wynonna Judd, a lifelong Lego enthusiast, and a connoisseur of fine dining and travel. She gave generously of her time, always putting others first, and was a steadfast source of support to family and friends alike.

Tracey will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, keen wit, and boundless compassion. Her love for life was contagious, and she had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel seen, heard, and loved. She encouraged others to live fully—and she led by that very example.
