Obituary of Andrew Kozel

Andrew "Andrej" Kozel, age 57, of Prospect and Avon Park, FL, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident alongside his son. He was the devoted husband of Joann DeBiase Kozel. Born in Ptuj, Slovenia on December 23, 1967, he is the son of Bogomir and Ana (Visinski) Kozel and was a longtime Stratford resident.

Andrew immigrated to the United States in 1987 and went to work at Anthony's Autobody in Bridgeport and soon after met the love of his life Joann. After the two married he began his career at JV Precision in Seymour where he worked alongside his son and cousins and was currently the plant manager. He enjoyed camping and riding ATVs with his son Andrew, watching NASCAR and traveling to Florida to spend time with Joann at their second home. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed feeding anyone who was at his table but his greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and friends. He was always there to take care of everyone and to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a devoted husband, son, father, brother and uncle and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Joann of 30 years, survivors include two sisters, Ana Zvajker and her husband Boris, Brigita Berglez and her husband Marjan, his step mother-in-law, Sonya DeBiase and six brothers and sisters-in-law, Debra Cormier, Christopher DeBiase, Jeffrey DeBiase, Donna Eyrich and her husband John, Stephan (Missy) DeBiase and Kathryn Bruder and her husband Matt as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Andrej was predeceased by his 3 brothers-in-laws Anthony "Hotsie", Nick and Randy (Barbara) DeBiase. And father-in-law Anthony DeBiase Jr.

Joann would like to thank Andrej's cousins Andrew (Jill) and Josef (Helen) Visinski for all their support in her time of need.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
