Obituary of Marie Dolores Pezzella

Marie Dolores Sagnella Pezzella, age 94, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Pezzella, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 30, 1931 in San Lorenzello, Benevento, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Marco and Elena Massotta Sagnella. Along with her family, she immigrated to the United States in 1956, settling in Bridgeport. Marie was the leading lady of her family; she was a spitfire, jokester and the heart and soul of the Pezzella family. Her love, courage and strength are things we will always remember and admire about her. She devoted every second of her 94 years caring for her family and there are truly no words that could express the love and gratitude that her family has for their mother and nonni. She will truly be missed by everyone who loved her. Marie was predeceased by her loving grandson, Vincent Julian Pezzella and two sisters, Julia Tomchik and Alfonzina Sagnella. Survivors include her two loving children, Vincent Pezzella and his wife Donna and Carol Cardillo and her husband Vincenzo, three cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Pezzella and her boyfriend Joey Cherry, Jessica Treschitta and her husband Russell and Vincenzo Cardillo Jr. and his girlfriend Destiny Arellano, three adored great granddaughters, Bria, Gianna and Olivia, two sisters, Lucy Lombardi and her husband Charles and Josephine Matera, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
