Obituary of Gloria Afonso

Gloria Afonso, age 93, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Goncalves Rei. She was born in Quintas, Beca, Boticas, Portugal on April 22, 1932. Gloria along with her husband Manuel immigrated to the United States in 2013 to be closer to their daughter and grandson. During her time in Portugal, she was a farmer by trade growing many crops for all to enjoy. Yet above all things, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in our hearts.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Maria Rei Ramada and her husband Fernando and her cherished grandson Manny Ramada and his wife Vanessa, all of Fairfield, as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves many additional relatives and friends in the United States and Portugal. Gloria will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
