Obituary of Herman Giles

Herman Giles, age 75, of Trumbull, CT and formerly of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born on September 17, 1950 in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Herman Giles Sr. and Gloria Gibson Giles. Herman was a road car inspector for the New York City Transit Authority and retired with 20 years of dedicated service. Raised in Queens, New York, he graduated from PS 41 and Bayside High School. He enjoyed reading the New York Post, fishing, playing chess, watching westerns, mystery series, and all sports. Herman was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed when the family was together, creating memories to last a lifetime. The unconditional love he gave and the values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Janet, survivors include his four loving children, Simone L. Cuomo and her husband Anthony, Rashard R. Giles, Monique N. Roberts-Giles and wife Donya, and Melissa N. Douse, five cherished grandchildren, Nicholas X. Cuomo, London A. Douse, Dominic T. Cuomo, Madison N. Roberts-Giles, and Jaxon L. Douse, a nephew Lem Giles, brother-in-law, Larry Harris, as well as other relatives and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Giles. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Herman's life on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT.
