Obituary of Louise B. Gernat

Louise Battistelli Gernat, age 88, of Shelton, beloved wife of Edward Gernat, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Born in Bridgeport on January 10, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Emma Bonci Battistelli. Louise graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1954 and from the Junior College of Connecticut in 1956. She worked at General Electric, Bridgeport and CBS Laboratories in Stamford and in her later years worked at various businesses in the area. She, and her husband Ed, had a winter home built in Oak Run, an adult community in Ocala, Florida; where they enjoyed the warm weather, golfing, bridge, and the growing of beautiful gardenias. She is survived by Ed, her husband of 64 years, her daughter, Anne Larsen (Carl) of Stratford, her son Edward Gernat (Najia) of San Diego, CA, her cherished triplet grandchildren, Jonathan, Nathaniel and Elizabeth Larsen, her sisters, Rosemarie Altieri (Pat) and Gloria Battistelli, sister-in-law, Arlene Battistelli and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Edward Anthony Battistelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford.
