Obituary of Janet T. Costanzo
Janet T. Costanzo passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, surrounded by family. She was born June 2, 1938, in Bridgeport, CT to the late Daniel and Claire McGuiness, and was the beloved wife of the late Richard Costanzo. Her greatest joy in life was her family; she is survived by her four children: Susan Fracker (James), Elizabeth O'Dea (William), Richard Costanzo (Cynthia) and Mark Costanzo.
Janet is also survived by her adored grandchildren: Amanda Dempsey (Matthew), Chris Fracker, Casey O'Dea (Nicole), Amie Marcello (Nick), Julie Gerrity (John), Kellie Viola (Christian), Kate O'Dea, Ryan and Kirsten Costanzo; and great grandchildren: Tyler, Jack, Eric, Harlow, Cecilia, Samuel, Lainey, Evelyn, Lily and Jack; and two more on the way. The grandchildren cherished Nanny and her great grandchildren loved to celebrate holidays with her and give her hugs.
She is also survived by her brother and sister in-law Joe and Mo and leaves behind many nieces and nephews, especially close to three Goddaughters Kristen, Shelly and Cathy who took care of her in the hospital. To this day she has lifelong friends that send birthday cards and call to check in. A big thank you to wonderful Lorna, who took great care of Janet and spent a lot of time with her during these last couple of years. They became fast and best friends.
Born in Bridgeport, she was a longtime resident of Trumbull before moving to Oxford and then back to Trumbull. Janet always held and embraced a strong faith in God and has wonderful memories of her time as a volunteer at Christ the King religious education and in the Trumbull public schools as a para beloved by the children.
She enjoyed painting, crafting, travel, and vacations with family and friends. Janet devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was once the party and picnic planner, the holiday host, the maker of meatballs and the one whose first question was always "How are the kids?"
