Obituary of Anthony Gatto

Anthony John Gatto, age 65, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Born in Bridgeport on May 12, 1960, he was a son of the late Eugene and Marie Cretella Gatto.

Anthony was a devoted brother, loving and generous uncle, and loyal and kind hearted friend. He was carefree and relaxed and had a smile and a nice word for everyone he met. He was a knowledge seeker (educate yourself!) and a lover of rhymes and animals, especially dogs. He had a strong faith and enjoyed being outdoors in nature. Anthony especially loved the sun and sand and throughout his life spent many hours at Seaside Park and St. Mary’s by the Sea. Always athletic, he rediscovered his love for golfing during his recent and well-deserved retirement and enjoyed being out on the courses swinging a club. He was an unwavering fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Dallas Cowboys.

A member of the Teamsters Local 191, Anthony was a retiree of Burns Construction, where he made many good friends.

Survivors include his four loving siblings, a brother, Gene Gatto, three sisters, Jeanne Gatto, Donna Gatto and Tina Shulick and her husband Al, two cherished nieces, Gina Shulick and Andrea Shulick and her fiancé Jake Gagne, his girlfriend Beth Iacurci and her daughter Kelsey, as well as many cherished cousins and dear friends, many of whom he considered family.

In addition to his parents Eugene and Marie, he was predeceased by many loving aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Andrew's Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
