Obituary of Barbara J. Parente

Barbara J. Parente was called to her eternal home on Friday, September 12, 2025.  She was born in New Haven in 1933 during a snowstorm.  Maybe that was why she loved the outdoors and every living thing on God’s beautiful earth.

She graduated from Southern CT State University in 1955 and married Leonard Parente in July of that year.  She loved teaching!  She was a school teacher at Bethany Community School for 30 years, retired, then substituted another 15 years.  Since 1973 she enjoyed her summers in Maine with friends and family.  She enjoyed walking, birding, swimming, hiking, snow skiing, water skiing and golf.  She was a long-time member of the Audubon Society.

She is survived by her children, Janet Banderas, Lenny (Francine) Parente, Barb (Russ) Roberts.  Grandchildren Jennifer Yocca, Dan (Nicole) Banderas, Ben (Christine) Banderas, Michael Jake Parente, Zachary Parente and Rachel Roberts.  Great grandchildren Amelia, Miles, Billy B, Ava and Tommy Banderas.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; and her son, Billy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
