Obituary of William "Sam" Dizenzo
William "Sam" Dizenzo passed away peacefully in his home on September 8, 2025, joining his beloved wife Shirley, his son Sammy, and the many wonderful dogs that brought him joy throughout his life.
Sam was born on February 11, 1939, and lived a life marked by love, loyalty, and strength. He is survived by his son Vincent and daughter-in-law Jessica, along with his second family of closest friends—Lenny Fabrizi, Carolyn Scifo, and Frank Scifo—who all held a special place in his heart.
An exceptional high school athlete, Sam earned the nickname "Nails," which captured his grit and determination. He carried that same toughness and dedication into the next chapter of his life, proudly serving his country as a United States Marine.
After his service, Sam built a career in construction, eventually becoming Vice President of Worth Construction. Alongside his partner, Joe Pontoriero, he helped grow the company into one of the nation's top contractors, recognized in the Engineering News-Record.
Sam was a charitable man who gave generously to others and lived his faith with devotion. A proud Roman Catholic, he was a regular presence at the early Sunday morning Mass at St. Catherine's.
Services will be private.
As Sam was a great lover of dogs, those who wish may honor him with a donation to the Stratford Animal Rescue Society at http://www.stratfordanimalrescue.org/donate.html.
