Obituary of John P. Eggers
John "Jack" Peter Eggers, 78, of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025 after a long illness.
Jack was born on September 28, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the son of the late Carl and Roslyn Eggers. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Shirley Eggers, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship.
Jack was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Sacred Heart University. He built a long and respected career as Data Processing Manager at William B. Meyer Moving and Storage in Stratford, Connecticut, retiring in 2010. Following retirement, he found great fulfillment as a substitute teacher, continuing to impact the lives of young people.
He was an active member of the Stratford Exchange Club, volunteered each year at the charity Christmas tree lot alongside his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed countless games of pool at the local senior center.
Jack lived life with curiosity and joy. He was an avid golfer, often traveling to Shenandoah Valley to play with his close friend of many years, Chalie. He adored his grandchildren, treasured traveling with Shirley, and was a devoted pet lover. A self-published author and lifelong learner, Jack always had a passion for writing and exploring new interests on his computer.
Above all, Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a dedicated family man, always present at his children's practices and his grandchildren's baseball, soccer, and lacrosse games, a patient and caring father, and a little league baseball coach who loved working with children and making them laugh.
He is survived by his children: Erik Eggers of Flower Mound, Texas, and the mother of their children, Kimberley Eggers; and Jenna Sevillano and her husband, Agustin Sevillano of Shelton, Connecticut. Jack was a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren: Zachary, Harrison, and Erika Eggers of Texas; and Ian, Nolan, and Justin Sevillano of Shelton, Connecticut. He also leaves behind his sister, Carol Eggers of Trumbull, Connecticut.
Friends may greet the family on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull with a prayer service to take place at 11:00 am in the funeral home.
