Obituary of Herminio Albuquerque Pinto

Herminio Albuquerque Pinto, age 98, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Lucinda Remedios Pinto, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 20, 1927, in Esmolfe, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, he was a son of the late Emidio Albuquerque Pinto and Laura DeJesus Pinto. A former member of the Portuguese Army and finish carpenter, along with his family, immigrated to the United States on October 20, 1969, settling in Bridgeport. Herminio was a retired machinist for Heim Corp and had over 20 years of dedicated service before his retirement. He was one of the oldest members of the Vasco da Gama Club, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends' playing cards and watching his favorite soccer team S.L. Benfica. Herminio treasured time with his family and took great joy in cooking for them, especially his beloved rice pudding—always topped with carefully crafted cinnamon designs, often in the shape of trees or flowers. His creativity extended to his homemade wine and moonshine. He could often be found tending to his fig trees and took pride in sharing his figs for all to enjoy. Herminio was the heart of many gatherings, always ready with a story, a joke, or a warm smile. He was the life of many parties and dances. The "Chicken Dance" was his favorite and there wasn't a vase of flowers, bottle or tea cup that he wouldn't balance on his head while dancing; never dropping! But above all things in life his greatest role was that of husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and recently great great grandfather. He was a hard-working man and provided the best for his family. The values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Herminio will be deeply missed. In addition to his beloved wife of 74 years, Lucinda, survivors include his five loving children, Fernando Pinto and his wife Tina, Cipriano Jorge Pinto Sr., and his wife Joanne, Iva Pinto, Maria Pinto Goncalves and Liz Pinto Jorge and her husband Jaime, nine cherished grandchildren, Rob Pinto and his wife Erica, Lou Pinto, Cipriano Jorge Pinto Jr and his wife Sarah, Kristy Ribeiro, Christopher Goncalves and his companion Tania, Amanda Goncalves and her companion Markus, Tyler Jorge and his wife Kyri, Connor Jorge and Skylar Jorge, 12 adored great grandchildren, Jonathan, Mia, Evan, Ella, Chase, Nyiah, Lucy, Jaylin, CJ, Michaela, Jace and Aliza, a great great granddaughter, Hallie, his brother, Alexandre Pinto and his wife Cecilia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and relatives in Portugal. Herminio was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Ribeiro, his siblings, Alfredo Pinto, Antonio Albuquerque, Micas Santos, Olivia Lagos, Laura Pinto Albuquerque, Nazare Pinto, and Maria (Luzita) Pinto Lopes, nephew's, Alfredo Albuquerque Sr., Antonio Albuquerque, and Marco Ventura. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport.
