Obituary of Stephanie B. Florio

Stephanie B. Honek Florio, age 77, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Richard Florio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 in the comfort of her home. Born in Flushing, New York on January 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Marie Pilnacek Honek.

A seamstress by trade, she was the owner and operator of Chrisandra Decorating for many years. Growing up in Long Island, New York, Stephanie was known for being the neighborhood mom, it was a role she would treasure. Everyone gathered at her home and enjoyed her wonderful cooking and baked goods. Everyone knew that whoever was near Stephanie, they were well taken care of and always safe. She was a loyal friend and was always there to lend a helping hand, no questions asked.

But above all, she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was hard-working and often sacrificed her own needs to provide the best for her family. Affectionately known as Mimi, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Christina Iannucci.

Survivors include her two loving children, Sandra DiJoseph and Richard Florio, four cherished grandchildren, Jeannette Florio, Christina Iannucci, Petty Officer Matthew DiJoseph, U.S. Coast Guard and Savanna DiJoseph, a brother, Charles Honek, as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory, Carin Gallinat and Lisa Mondello, who were lovingly treated and loved by Mimi and seen as her "other daughters".

Relatives and friends may greet the family at a celebration of Mimi's life on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A prayer service will take place at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place at a future date in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.abriola.com.
