Obituary of Donald J. Manoni
Donald J. Manoni, age 90, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Judith (Petrucelli) Manoni. Born in Bridgeport on March 5, 1935 he was a son of the late John and Marina (Rafaeli) Manoni.
Mr. Manoni proudly served in the U.S. Army before his honorable discharge. He later worked in the moving and storage industry as a sales manager with both William B. Meyer and United Van Lines, a career that spanned over 25 years and built numerous friendships along the way. He was an avid vintner and greatly enjoyed making his own wine and would proudly share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Donald also enjoyed horseracing, skeet shooting and bocce. He embodied the label of patriarch and was treasured by his Italian family from the Marche area of Italy which connected him to the Marchigiano club in Bridgeport. His tremendous love for his family and ability to put everyone's needs before his own was the reason everyone relied on him for support and comfort. A role that he was proud to accept and handle with great ability. He will best be remembered for his loveable, genuine and caring personality that impacted the lives of so many that were fortunate enough to know him. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Judith of 51 years, other survivors include his loving daughter, Lisa Manoni Younge, his devoted stepchildren, Susan Criscione and her husband Ken and Robert Walkley and his wife Tammy, his six cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob and Alexis Younge, Ryan Tessier and Kevin and Christopher Walkley, as well as three great grandchildren and several adored nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Lori Manoni Ritchie, a brother, James Manoni and his sisters, Stella Hennessey and Catherine Hancock.
