Obituary of Carey A. Young

Carey A. Young, age 73, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Louise (Rainone) Young. Born in Toone, TN on January 12, 1952 he was the son of the late Statler and Mary (Cupples) Young. Carey worked as a welder for many years. Carey was a man of many nicknames, all affectionately given by family, co-workers and dear friends. Rebel, Ruger, Tennessee, Grampy and Uncle Kitty are just a few of these nicknames; they demonstrate how Carey meant so much to so many people. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Yankees and also enjoyed rock music and horror movies. He took great pride in tending to his garden, a skill he learned growing up on a farm. His garden produced an abundance of vegetables, and he was happy to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. His greatest enjoyment, however, was spending time surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he had an unforgettable presence and infectious smile and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife Louise of nearly 49 years, other survivors include his loving daughter, Courtney Young and her husband Stephen Kinsella of Southbury, his cherished grandchildren, Robert, Carmine and Carey Kinsella, his brother Dewey Young and sisters, Sue Thearp, Margaret Crawford and her husband Deryl and Lois Hyman and her husband Don, all of Tennessee, as well as many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by six brothers and sisters. A special thank you is given to Ilda Carvalho, family friend and Carey’s caregiver for the last several years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 1:30 PM in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home beginning at 12 PM until the time of the service.
