Obituary of Olinda Gonsalves Coelho

Olinda Gonsalves Coelho, age 99, of Bridgeport, CT beloved wife of the late Domingos Coelho, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow, Massachusetts, on June 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel Moreno and Maria Gonsalves. Olinda moved to Portugal at the age of 5 and spent the entirety of her youth there. She returned to the United States in her late 20's, settling in Bridgeport, CT with her husband Domingos. Olinda was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was hard-working and often sacrificed her own needs to provide the best for her family. The unconditional love she gave will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her loving son, Daniel Coelho, son-in-law, Kenneth Pond, three cherished grandchildren, David Coelho, Kristine Pond and her husband Daniel La Mazza, and Jennifer Pond and her husband Derek Kornbluth, two adored great-granddaughters, Madeleine and Emilia La Mazza, as well as several nieces, nephews and godchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Pond, two brothers, Jose Gonsalves and Antonio Oliveira and a sister, Albertina Sanches. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport, CT. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
