Obituary of Terry A. McCarty

Terry A. (Sheridan) McCarty, age 70, formerly of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rockville Centre, New York on February 16, 1955 she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Henn) Sheridan. 

Terry dedicated her life to her family. Her world revolved around her daughters, and she worked tirelessly to create every opportunity for them that she wished she had. Nothing made her happier than becoming a grandmother and having four adoring grandchildren. She filled their lives with joy, their hearts with love, and their stomachs with the recipes she had perfected over a lifetime.
 

While she faced a long and difficult battle with heart failure, Terry never lost her warmth or smile. She brought laughter to every place her journey took her, from ambulance rides to the ICU, growing a fan club of nurses, doctors, and staff along the way. Even in her final days, her quick wit and joyful spirit filled the room with love and laughter.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Kristen Sylvester of Norwalk and Lauren O’Brien and her husband Dennis III of Stamford, her adored grandchildren, Cameron and Nora Sylvester and Dennis IV and Sydney O’Brien, as well as her former husband Michael McCarty, her cherished sisters- and brothers-in-law, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
