Obituary of Gordon Baker

On Thursday morning, July 24,2025, Gordon A. Baker quietly passed from this life to his great new adventure of wholeness with the Lord in heaven. Gordon was born on February 3, 1954 to Horace C. and Doris A. (Blinn) Baker at Bridgeport Hospital, and was raised in Stratford, Connecticut for most of his life. Gordon was given attention and encouragement, was exposed to opportunities suited to his unique needs and abilities, and eventually lovingly cared for by the full-time staff and support personnel of The Kennedy Center (The Kennedy Collective) including Gordon's day care program in Stratford, Ludlowe Center For Health and Rehabilitation and multiple medical providers, including those at Gaylord Hospital and private care physicians and dentists whose services were provided to Gordon's group-home staff at his home in Oxford, Ct.

Gordon is survived by six brothers and sisters. Keith, of Arizona, Forrest and Glenn of Florida, Linda Andzulis of Oklahoma, Janet Young of Connecticut, and Joyce Clemons of Ohio, three sisters-in-law: Sharon Baker, Trudy Baker, and Miranda Baker, and a brother-in-law Donald Young, 12 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers-in-law Victor Andzulis and Ronald Clemons.

Gordon's family wishes to acknowledge and thank the many care providers who have given love and understanding to him over his lifetime, particularly Liz Lavorgna and the staff at Old Goodhill Group Home in Oxford. Their dedication and commitment to him and their deep understanding of his limitations cannot be overstated. Although Gordon was non-verbal, he surprised one of his care providers by humming while using the correct syllables for the words to "Yellow Submarine", which he listened to on one of his favorite Beatle's albums.

"And our friends are all aboard....many more of them live next door"

Thank you, to all of you; his friends who traveled with him, and all of those who remembered to make his life journey matter.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment in the family plot located in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
