Obituary of Raymond T. Guard

Raymond T. “Buddy” Guard, age 82, longtime resident of Shelton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Cheryl (Seaborne) Guard. Born in Bridgeport on August 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Raymond and Madeline (Cavanaugh) Guard. Mr. Guard had a long career with Mobil Chemical Company that spanned over 32 years before his retirement as a manager. Ray appreciated old vintage cars for their style and also had an ability to work on them. He was a fan of country music and also loved ball room dancing with his late wife Cheryl. He often looked forward to the occasional trip to the casino to try his luck with friends and family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving children, Raymond Guard, Jr and his wife Dagmar of Colchester, Chris Guard and his wife Amy of Shelton and Jessica Guard and her husband Jay Hartling of East Hampton, his cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Raymond IV and Liam, his sisters, Marlene Laskowski of Trumbull and Sharon Kostyan of Bridgeport, as well as his former daughter-in-law, Sandra Guard of Stratford and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Eileen Podrasky and Shirley Passaro.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Monday morning from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
