Obituary of Joaquim Ribas De Moura
Joaquim Ribas De Moura, age 80, of Shelton, beloved husband of Piedade Alves De Moura, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 7, 1945 in Padroso, Montalegre, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Alves De Moura and Matilde Ribas De Moura.
Along with his family, Jack immigrated to the United States in 1969, living in Bridgeport before settling in Shelton. He was a long-time member of the CT Laborers Union Local 446, working for Tri Star Construction before his retirement. After his retirement, he was employed by the City of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department for a short time. He was a member of the Vasco da Gama Club and enjoyed spending time there with his brothers, cousins and friends watching his favorite soccer team F.C. Porto.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, bother, father and grandfather. The unconditional love he gave and the values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Joaquim was a devout catholic and a hardworking man, who always provided the best for his family. He enjoyed spending time with everyone, especially his grandchildren. Proud of his Portuguese heritage, he shared many stories and instilled many traditions upon his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Piedade, survivors include his three loving children, Antonio De Moura, Alice Teixeira and her husband Ricardo and Fernando De Moura and his wife Catherine, six cherished grandchildren, Antonio De Moura, Ricardo and Matthew Teixeira and Alexander, Christian and Victoria De Moura, his brothers and sisters, Jose Alves and his wife Delfina, Antonio De Moura and Shannon Rausch, Joao De Moura and his wife Maria, Matilde Ramos and her husband Delmino, Domingos Moura and his wife Filomena, and Grace Ferreira and her husband Antonio, a Godson, John De Moura, a Goddaughter, Isabel Kilduff, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister and her husband Maria Julia Martins and Candido Martins as well as his sister-in-law Irene DeMoura.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 465 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
