Obituary of Elisa Sampaio Gomes Ribeiro

Elisa Sampaio Gomes Ribeiro, age 91, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Francisco Ribeiro, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 12, 1933 in Soutelo, Chaves, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Antonio Manuel Gomes and Adelaide Rosa Sampaio.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always put the needs of her family before her own. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The unconditional love she gave and the values and traditions she taught, will always live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving children, Jose Martins and his wife Mabilde, Lucilia Rua and her husband Adelino, Amelia DaCruz and her husband Porfirio, and Albino Ribeiro and his wife Sara. Two brothers, Albino and Jerimias Gomes, ten cherished grandchildren Sonia Rosa, Celia Sicsico, Oscar Ribeiro, Francisco Rua, Domingos Rua, Tiago Rua, Andre DaCruz, Victor DaCruz, Sofia Ribeiro, Paula Ribeiro, and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Maria Adelaide Ribeiro and her husband Oscar, sisters Defina Valtelhas, Garcinda Moura, brothers Joao Sampaio Gomes and Jose Sampaio Gomes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd, Bridgeport. Interment will be in Soutelo, Chaves, Portugal. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
