Obituary of Robert Whitfield Underhill

Robert Whitfield Underhill, age 61, of Danbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Griffin Hospital. Born Rocky Mount, North Carolina on March 11, 1964, he was a son of the late Louis D. Underhill and Willa Mae (Holmes) Underhill. After leaving North Carolina, Robert was a longtime resident of Trumbull before moving to Danbury.

Robert was employed at UPS for over 30 years and currently located in Stratford. He started out in local deliveries and later moved to driving cross country. He enjoyed the long drives because he loved to travel. He was a true sportsman who enjoyed watching all sports, especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, playing basketball and golf and collecting sports memorabilia.

Survivors include a loving son, Quenten Howard and his wife Danielle, a stepdaughter, Shonyel Lyons, three cherished grandchildren, Carter Howard, Emma and Leia, his stepmother, Mary Underhill and 12 brothers and sisters, Linda Graves, Joan Davis, Doris Underhill, Shirley Underhill, Cynthia Underhill, Angela Underhill, Mary Underhill (Milton), Ronnie Underhill (Barbara), Rickie Underhill (Brenda), Clarence Underhill (Mildred) Donald Underhill (Hilda) and James Underhill (Salayma) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and Lagretta Lyons, who remained an important part of his life. He was predeceased by a sister, Deborah Underhill and a brother, Louis Underhill.

Relatives and friends can greet the family on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. All other services and burial will be held in North Carolina.
