Obituary of Christina A. Covino

Christina Ann Ulmaniec Covino, age 86 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Michael J. Covino. Born in New Rochelle, NY on February 22, 1939, Chris was the only child of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Sekowski) Ulmaniec and was raised in Fairfield, CT.

Chris was a graduate of Ludlowe High School, University of Bridgeport, and Sacred Heart University. While at the University of Bridgeport, Christina met Mike, her husband of 57 years. They resided in Trumbull and had four children, Joseph Covino (Liz), Michele Covino Deaso (Len), Tina Bokine (Scott), and Jacqueline Covino Gelmetti (John). The couple had nine grandchildren Sara Tucker (Kevin), Meagan Covino-Lindsey (Patrick), Katie Covino, Jack Covino, Cisco Covino-Deaso (Linsey), Melissa Bokine, Patrick Bokine, Jillian Gelmetti Vino (Tim), and Lucas Gelmetti. They have seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by a dear sister-in-law, Janice Covino. Chris had two nieces and two nephews.

Chris and Mike enjoyed traveling all over the world. They also enjoyed spending family time with Fred and Olga Covino at their home in Martha's Vineyard. Chris enjoyed hosting dinner parties for friends and family, as well as attending the theater, symphony, museums, and concerts. She was an avid reader and puzzler. Chris was enthusiastic about protecting the environment and very knowledgeable about the world's needs.

Christina was a retired math teacher from Wooster Intermediate School in Stratford. She made very dear friends there whom she cherished. After retirement, Christina took up folk art lessons. Her paintings show off her talent and have extensive detail. She enjoyed her 30 years of art classes and the wonderful friends she made there.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Emma for the wonderful care she gave Chris in the last months.
