Obituary of Normand J. Mandeville Jr.

Normand "Norm" J. Mandeville, Jr., age 78, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Josephine "Josie" (Dumas) Mandeville. Born in Bridgeport on October 11, 1946, he was a son of the late Normand J. Sr. and Doris (Gaynor) Mandeville.

Norm joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served this country during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Carpenter Steel for many years before going to the U. S. Post Office until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW in Stratford and looking forward to going there on Friday afternoons. He had a 1963 Chevy convertible which he and Josie enjoyed taking to car shows together. Every day he tackled the daily crossword or could be found sitting on the deck just relaxing. Above everything his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughters and treasured the family vacations to Myrtle Beach and Tennessee to name a few.

In addition to his beloved wife Josie of 55 years, survivors include his two loving daughters, Kimberly Hoydilla (Brian) and Debbie Bisch (Scott), his four sisters, Barbara Cucuel (Gary), Patricia Slason, Nancy Athanasiou (Steve) and Joanne Kondor (Frank), a sister-in-law, Darlene Mandeville and three cherished granddaughters, Ashley. Lauren and Danielle as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Mandeville and a brother-in-law, Howard Slason.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. directly in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Ave., Stratford. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
