Obituary of Anibal Soboeiro, Jr.
Anibal “Mike” Soboeiro Jr., age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Sally A. (Leonetti) Soboeiro, with whom he shared 36 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on May 24, 1930, in New Rochelle, New York, Mike was the son of the late Anibal Soboeiro Sr. and Anna (Dos Santos) Soboeiro. He later settled in Trumbull, Connecticut, where he spent most of his life and built a legacy of love, hard work, and kindness.
A proud veteran, Mike served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he followed his passion for working with people and became a talented hairdresser. Over the years, he owned and operated several successful salons in Bridgeport—including Charelle’s, Michael’s Hair Design, and Hair 2000—where he built not just a loyal clientele, but lasting friendships. Mike was the kind of man who always showed up—whether you were family, a friend, or a customer, he made sure you felt valued, heard, and cared for.
When he wasn’t working, Mike could most often be found outdoors, taking great pride in his yard. He loved tending to his vegetable garden, carefully shaping his flower beds, trimming trees, and keeping a flawless lawn. His real joy, though, came from time spent with his family. He was happiest when everyone was together—at holidays, around the dinner table, or during any kind of gathering where love and laughter filled the room.
Mike will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a true friend to many. His warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Sally, Mike leaves behind his four loving daughters: Francine Sinay and her husband Michael, Lori Rowan and her husband Michael, April Perry, and Elisha Anna Soboeiro. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Cari and Celeste Fasulo, his niece Frances Violante, ten cherished grandchildren—Tracey, Stephanie, Matthew, Brandon, Amber, Anibella, Ari, Daniella, Alana, and Sophia—and seven adored great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mike was predeceased by his brothers Jack and John Soboeiro, and his sisters Alice Blanco and Mary Soboeiro.
