Obituary of Gladys Negron Lopez

Gladys Negron Lopez, age 85, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Americo Lopez, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 23, 1939, in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Joaquin and Juana Santos Negron.

A devout Catholic, Gladys found strength in her faith and lived a life of deep compassion and service. She was a hardworking woman, known for her selfless devotion not only to her family but to anyone in need. Always ready to lend a hand or offer a kind word, she put the well-being of others before her own without hesitation. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones. Her smile would light up the room when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were by her side.

Gladys was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The unconditional love she gave and the example she set through her generosity and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her three devoted children, Janet Lopez, George Lopez and his wife Grisel, Americo Lopez and his wife Mayra; six cherished grandchildren, Richard Lopez, Veni Galarza, Eric Lopez, Alexis Lopez, Vanessa Lopez, and Janet Lopez; and six adored great-grandchildren, Jayleen, Alexsa, Aiden, Melina, Charlie, and Ryder. She also leaves behind two brothers, Tomas Negron and Wilfredo Negron; a sister, Carmen Franco; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Joaquin Negron, Angel Negron, and David Negron, and a sister, Maria Rosado

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 275 Union Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
