Obituary of Joseph R. Iannucci

Joseph Raymond Iannucci, age 81, of Monroe, beloved husband of Denise Reardon Iannucci, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 11, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on April 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Josephin T. Ragonesi Iannucci.

A dedicated barber by trade, Joe was the proud owner and operator of Joey I's, where his quick wit and easy charm made him a friend to everyone who came through the door.

Joe was a lifelong sports fan who especially enjoyed cheering for the Yankees and the New York Giants. He was an avid golfer who loved his weekly Sunday and Wednesday games at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course and many outings at Racebrook Country Club, always looking forward to those days on the green with friends.

He cherished his years coaching his children's teams and supporting them from the sidelines. Joe was an active volunteer with Monroe Little League and on the board of Monroe Pop Warner while his son and daughter played, making a lasting impact on the community and the lives of many young athletes.

Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: a good Porketta sandwich, lively conversation, and a nice cigar. He made years of memories with a wonderful group of friends over Tuesday night dinners, evenings always filled with good food and laughter.

His favorite vacation spot was Wildwood, New Jersey, where he vacationed with his family from the age of 16 until he was 80 years old. He loved listening to Oldies, often blasting the radio and singing along with his grandkids in the car. Known for his jolly spirit and gift of conversation could talk to anyone and always brought a smile to those around him.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, Denise, survivors include his two loving children, Joseph Iannucci (Claire) of Sandy Hook, and his daughter Shawna Domenichelli (Dante) of Monroe, five cherished and adored grandchildren, Alyssa and Alexis Iannucci and Michael, Matthew and Siena Domenichelli, a sister, Joan Vitello (Michael), of Oxford; sisters-in-law Pamela and Patti (Peter); brother-in-law Bill (Kris) as well as, several nieces and nephews.

He treasured time spent with his grandchildren--whether dancing, sharing a meal, or simply enjoying each other's company. Above all, Joe cherished Denise, the love of his life, with whom he shared every day and every adventure.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike Monroe.
