Obituary of Joseph Henry Mancini

Joseph Henry Mancini, age 97, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Ruth Diani Mancini, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025. Born in New Haven on May 20, 1927, he was a son of the late Rocco and Maria Turcio Mancini. Joe served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed on Guam. After returning home, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree from UConn and a Master's degree from the University of Bridgeport. Joe worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft for 40 years before his retirement.

Joe was a loyal fan of all UConn sports teams, the New York Yankees and Giants, and rarely—if ever—missed a game. He was a member of the Shelton VFW and received their lifetime membership award. He was a dedicated parishioner at St. Lawrence Church, where he volunteered countless hours. He was also a former Scout Master and Shelton Little League coach.

But above all he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. The unconditional love he gave and the values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his five loving children, Susan Cady (Michael), Joanne Mancini, Joseph Mancini, Jr. (Kimberly), Mark Mancini (Debbie), and Michael Mancini (Donna); his eight loving grandchildren, Erin Cady (Pierce), Matthew Hampton (Miranda), Jennifer Selavka (Mark), Nicole Mancini (Jeff), Michael Mancini, Jr. (Katie), Christopher Hampton (Emily), Daniel Mancini, and Joseph Mancini III (Charley), five adored great grandchildren, Olivia, Ellery, Jack, Wren, and Mark, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Carol Hampton (Edward) and his sister, Anne Molumphy.

At Joe's request, all funeral arrangements and burial were held privately. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. To leave an online condolence, please visit us at www.abriola.com.
