Obituary of Helen C. Tuccio

Helen (Cunningham) Tuccio, age 68, of Monroe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of John N.Tuccio. Born in Queens, NY on January 19, 1957, she was the daughter of Bridget (Corrigan) Cunningham and the late Thomas Cunningham.

Following her graduation from Fairfield University, Mrs. Tuccio was proud to have spent her entire career as a dedicated employee of the IBM Corporation. IBM held great significance to Helen as this was both where her father spent his career and where she first met John.

Helen was a woman of great faith and that faith was practiced as an active member of St. Jude Church in Monroe. Her contributions to the St. Jude Columbiettes, the Emmaus retreat, and various youth ministries were considerable and appreciated by all who knew her.

A gifted artist, she found great joy in creating new things. She poured herself into whatever new project she was working on, from decorations for school/church functions, scrap books and photo albums, to treasured crafts with her children and grandchildren.

She also brought this creativity to her baking. From cookies to cakes she was an incredible baker whose memorable creations were as tasty as they were beautiful.

Helen was musically inclined, a talented pianist and gifted singer who instilled a love of music (in particular Irish music) in both her children and her grandchildren.

Her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored above all else.

Helen was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend of many. She will be remembered most for her thoughtfulness and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother and her beloved husband John of 42 years, other survivors include her devoted children, Tommy Tuccio and his wife Helen Wigzell of Monroe and Kathy Rienzo and her husband Matt of Fairfield, as well as her loving stepchildren John Tuccio and his wife Yong of Colorado, and Carol Bickel and her husband Tom of Utah. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Molly, Savannah, and Finn.

Friends may greet the family on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Those wishing to pray the rosary with the family may gather at the funeral home at 3:45 p.m., prior to the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Internment in the family plot will be held privately in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swim Across the Sound, St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606 (www.swimacrossthesound.org).  For online condolences, please visit us at www.abriola.com.
