Obituary of Rebecca A. Martin

Rebecca A. Recupero Martin, age 70, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 48 years to Richard Martin. Born in Bridgeport on April 1, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Winifred (Zack) Recupero and was a longtime resident of Trumbull before moving to Oxford.

Rebecca was a graduate of Sacred Heart University with a degree in Criminal Justice. She worked in the records department at the Trumbull Police Department for over 18 years before her retirement. She was a lover of all animals and cared for countless pets over the years. Her greatest enjoyment came from the many hours she spent riding and nurturing her horse "Bunky". She loved nature and being outdoors and enjoyed doing puzzles and reading, and could always be found involved in a new novel. She and Richard had many memories together going to the theatre, traveling, visiting with family and attending the Civil War Reenactment for 10 years. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband Richard, survivors include two brothers, Anthony "Clay" Recupero (Karen) and Theodore "Ted" Recupero (Susan), a sister, Gretchen Schmelzer, her mother-in-law, Theresa Martin, a brother-in-law, Rev. Victor T. Martin and three sisters-in-law, Karen Yitts (Louie), Nancy Portolese (Chris) and Susan Smey (Jim) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1st at 9:00 a.m. directly in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
