Obituary of Gladys Pilar Velez Deer
Gladys Pilar Velez Deer, age 77, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at HCA St. Lucie Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Frederick Deer. Born in Ecuador on May 23, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Rosa (Pinargote) Velez.
Survivors include her five devoted children, Oscar Tapia and his wife Jacinta, Jonny Tapia and his wife Bitta, Jimmy Tapia and his wife Adriana, Carlos Tapia and his wife Silvia and Alejandra Tapia-Jimenez and her husband Donato, 19 grandchildren, Pilar, Oscar Jr., Jennifer, Stephanie, Michael, Marcelino, Amy, Fiorella, Jonathan, Jeremy, Jessarie, Delilah, Leilani, Angel, Matthew, Ashley, Katie, Giada and Lexi as well as 24 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings Vidal, Laura, Ramon, Vilma, Mercy, Manuel and Miller.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Belgica, Isauro, Clovi and Victor.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. All are invited to attend a Mass of Catholic Burial that will be celebrated on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Margaret Shrine, 2325 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
