Obituary of Mary Alice McHugh
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mary Alice Bohmert McHugh, beloved wife of the late Donald J. McHugh passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.
Mary Alice was born on April 9, 1938, in Port Chester, NY to the late Charles E. and Frances A. (O'Callaghan) Bohmert. She lived a full and beautiful life, dedicated to her family and community. Mary Alice was known for her kindness, generosity, and the warmth she brought to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her heart was always open to others, and her compassion knew no bounds.
She worked as a Real Estate Agent for many years. She always considered her greatest achievement to be her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and her home was a place of comfort, love, and laughter. Mary Alice's enduring spirit will live on in the memories she created with all who knew her.
Survivors include her four loving children, Donna Kohlbacker and her husband Jeffrey, Brian McHugh and his wife Christine, Timothy McHugh and his wife Lainie and Robert McHugh, six cherished grandchildren, Brendan McHugh and his wife Elizabeth, Megan Emerson and her husband Edward, Kelly Katz and her husband Douglas, Jennifer McHugh and her fiancé James Zichichi, and Rachel and Michael McHugh, three adored great grandchildren, Charlie Anne, Jack and Teddy, a sister, Betty Kelly, a sister-in-law, Jane Bohmert, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Bohmert and a sister, Katharine Betzig.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home in Trumbull, CT, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Thursday morning, February 13, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home.
Mary Alice will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us all.
