Obituary of Frederick J. Bodyk

Frederick Joseph Bodyk, age 67, of Shelton, beloved husband of Jeanne Bodyk (Hunter), passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025. Born in Derby, CT on December 6, 1957 he was the son of the late Paul and Adeline Bodyk. Fred was a lifelong resident of Shelton, graduating from Shelton High School and the University of New Haven.

For most of his career, he worked as a structural engineer for Blakeslee Prestress before retiring in 2017. In his free time, Fred enjoyed coaching youth sports and spent many years dedicating his time to St. Joseph Grammar School basketball and Shelton American Legion. In the summers, he enjoyed visiting his favorite vacation spot, Stone Harbor, New Jersey with his lifelong friends who turned into family. Above all, Fred was a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and most recently, his favorite role, "Pop". He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his father and mother in-law, Frank and Terry Hunter. In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his daughter, Emily and her husband Casey and "his boys", grandsons, Caiden and Hunter who were the lights of his life. He is also survived by his siblings Peter Bodyk (Ria), Diane Parkins (Rich), and Marilyn Babcock, his nephew and godson with whom he was very close Jeremy Parkins (Martha) and his in-laws Daniel Hunter (Sharon), Christine Hunter, Peg Levine (Steve) and Kevin Hunter (Jennifer); as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Fred" and many wonderful lifelong friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 10:30 am directly at St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave., Shelton. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, January 29 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., in Trumbull. Burial will be private.
