Joseph “Joey” Franco, age 33, of Sandy Hook passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ashley (Doehrer) Franco. Born in Bridgeport on December 5, 1988, he was a son of Lois (Briere) Franco of Bridgeport and the late Gerald Franco. A career as a school bus driver was the perfect option for Joey as his love for kids and love to drive could both be satisfied at the same time. He enjoyed fishing trips with his late father and also tending to outdoor projects was something he relished. Years ago, he also enjoyed skateboarding, roller blading and truly loved paintball and has kept all his gear since his teen years . His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family, especially his daughters, whom he adored above all else. He was an amazing husband and father and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his mother Lois and beloved wife Ashley of 12 years, other survivors include his cherished daughters, Angelia and Alina, his sisters, Lorri Franco Harrell and her husband Thomas of Palm Coast, FL and Tina Franco of Myrtle Beach, SC, his brother, Jerry Franco, also of Palm Coast, FL, his mother-in-law, LouAnn Doehrer of Bridgeport, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends too numerous to mention. In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by his sister, Stephanie Franco and his nephew, Jonathan Franco and his childhood dog Missy who he loved so dearly.
