Michael J. D'Elia of Bridgeport, a tailor who in partnership with his brothers-in-law, owned Formal Cleaners and Madison Tailors in Bridgeport, died on Thursday, June 24, 2004, at St. Vincent‚s Medical Center, Bridgeport, with his family by his side. Born and raised in Bridgeport, on November 7, 1916, he was the son of the late James V. and Josephine Pasqua D'Elia. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. D'Elia was a member of the Trinacria M.A. Society, serving as former chairman, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Shelton Senior Center, M.A.L.E.S., Our Lady of Grace Travel Group, Roma Club, the St. Vincent Heart Club, and was a past member of the Derby Senior Center. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Concetta (Kay) Lopresti D'Elia of Bridgeport; devoted children, James D'Elia and his wife, Marilyn, and Teresa Peters and her husband, Richard, all of Monroe; four grandchildren, Marine 1st Lt. James D'Elia, currently stationed in Iraq, Michael D'Elia, Kevin D'Elia and his fiancée, Janelle Torres, and Lisa Peters Keenan and her husband, Dave. The most recent joy and pleasure of his life was his great-granddaughter, Tiffany D'Elia. He was also survived by brother-in-law, Tony Tedesco; brother-in-law, Joseph Lopresti and his wife, Josephine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Cono D'Elia; and sisters, Rose Tedesco and Mary D'Elia. Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 28, 2004, at 9 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Members of the Trinacria M.A. Society will exemplify a ritual on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
