Obituary of Mary Garafalo

Mary Force Garafalo, age 90, of Fairfield passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 9, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Garafalo. Born in Fairview, NJ on August 3, 1927 she was a daughter of the late Michael and Carmella Calabrese Force. Mary was an extremely social person and loved to be around family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family and also looked forward to time spent playing cards, bingo and pinochle. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her five loving children, Salvatore Garafalo, Jr. and his wife Judith of Sunrise, FL, Michael Garafalo and his wife Susan of Boynton Beach, FL, Lori Ann Holda and her husband Richard of Wallingford, Antoinette Carroll and her husband Thomas of Stratford and Angela Garafalo of Seymour, her ten cherished grandchildren, Brian and Craig Garafalo, Amy Zidar, Jessica Napoleone, Theresa Plant, Kristin and Stephanie Holda, Kathryn, Lindsay and Christopher Carroll, her four adored great grandchildren, Olivia, Emma and Ava Zidar and Joseph DiCostanzo, her sister, Joyce Pereiro of Largo, FL and sister-in-law Jenny Garafalo of Milford, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Salvatore, she was also predeceased by her twin brother, Michael Force and her sisters, Gloria Esposito, Frances Gillotti and Claudette Constantino. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford, CT. Entombment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. At the request of her family, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Colin's Crew, P.O. Box 4097, Wallingford, CT 06492 or at colins-crew.org. This is a non-profit organization which helps those families affected by childhood cancer. Her family would like to thank the staff, nurses and CNAs at Ludlowe Health & Rehabilitation of Fairfield. Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull has been entrusted with the arrangements.
