Obituary of Carl J. Traub

Carl J. Traub, age 86, of Trumbull died peacefully at home on January 9, 2018. He was the devoted husband of Margaret (Marge) Traub. Born in Bridgeport, CT on September 13, 1931, he was a loving son of the late Carl F. and Susan Traub of Trumbull. Carl was a graduate of Bassick High School and joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18. During the Korean War he was stationed in Japan; of which he enjoyed telling stories of his training in the snow and learning to use snow shoes. Upon his return, he was active in youth groups at St. Theresa's Church; where his family was one of the first registered members. After returning from the service, Carl worked with his uncle, learning the carpentry trade and became a union carpenter with Carpenters Union 210 for over 30 years. 

He loved playing pinochle with his friends and played softball for many years with the Bridgeport Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed following his grandchildren with all their activities including soccer, baseball games, and band competitions. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Marge of 56 years, he is survived by his children, Carl Traub of Hamden, Karen Gallagher of Monroe, Sandra (Zane) Siwanowicz of Trumbull, and Andrew (Gina) Traub of Hamden; His adored grandchildren, Billy and Danielle Gallagher, Nicholas and Carlie Siwanowicz, and Nina and Luke Traub; his sister Susan Cahill of Shelton, In-laws Marie Mintell, Michael, Peter, and Edwina Mezick; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Florence, Chris, and Eleanor .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street Trumbull. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull with full Military Honors. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1-5 PM in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489
