Obituary of Carolynn S. Luongo

Carolynn Sheila Smith Luongo, age 70, of Hamden and formerly of Huntington, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at her home. Born in Bridgeport, on August 23, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Alice Ryall Smith. A graduate of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, Carolynn was a Registered Nurse at Bridgeport Hospital, where she was an E.R. nurse with over 20 years of dedicated service. After leaving the hospital she went on to work for many years at the offices of Dr. Arthur Turetsky and Dr. Daniel Rudolph. She was truly dedicated to her profession and received great satisfaction in helping others. She enjoyed camping, was an avid Yankees and Giants fan, and loved a round of golf. But above all, Carolynn was a dedicated mother and "Nana". She loved when the family was together, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The unconditional love she gave and memories created will always live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two loving daughters, Christine Shannon and her husband John of Stratford, Tracy Kerzner and her husband Eric of Milford, and their father, Fred Luongo of Milford, four cherished grandchildren Thomas and Kyle Shannon and Evan and Joey Kerzner, a loving niece, Jennifer Thompson and her husband Paul of Woodbury and their children Samantha and Zachary, a sister, Janet Abram and her husband Bob and their daughter Allison of Newtown. Dear friends, Patti Palumbo, Chevy Aurilio and Shirley and her husband Ed Collins and their children Eddie, Todd, Jason and Shelley.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
