Obituary of Marzietta Sellari

Marzietta Savo Sellari, 90, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Paolo "Paoluccio" Sellari, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Bishop Wicke Health Care, surrounded by her loving family. Marzietta was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Born in Arnara, Province of Frosinone, Italy on January 10, 1927, Marzietta was a daughter of the late Michele Savo and Filomena Cerquozzi. Marzietta worked as a seamstress for various companies for many years prior to her retirement; however her main joy came from working outside tending to the garden, feeding the animals, and most importantly spending time with her family and passing on family traditions such as making homemade pasta. Marzietta was unstoppable and honest woman, always delighted when someone displayed furbo qualities, not being fooled by anyone.

Marzietta spent most of her life between Shelton, CT and her home in Frosinone, Italy. Marzietta could always be found by her husband, Paolo's side. The pair was an amazing team always surrounding themselves by family especially their grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the patriarchs of the family keeping everyone in line and honest. Marzietta's most proud moments were celebrating the great grandchildren's accomplishments. She was always protective over the little ones following them around as they learned to take their first steps or if they got to close to the stairs. Marzietta also loved family gatherings especially weddings where she could show off everyone's successes and also her dance moves with her sister, Rica.

Survivors include two children, Michelina Ciampini and her husband Franco and Roberto Sellari and his wife Anna Maria; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Fabio and Eileen Ciampini, Milena Shelburn, Tanya and Paul Fonte, and Paolo and Gabrielle Sellari; 5 great grandchildren Desmond Shelburn, Gabriella Fonte, Alessandro Fonte, Liana Ciampini, and Matteo Sellari; and her sister, Enrica Cerquozzi, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband of 70 years, Paolo, she was also predeceased by two children, Michele and Palmina, her sisters, Cesira Marini and Giuseppina Marini, brothers-in-law, Gino Cerquozzi, Sam Marini, Michele Marini, Carlo Testani, her sister-in-law, Pietrina Sellari, and her grandson-in-law, Tyce Shelburn.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret's Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
