Obituary of Jose Antonio "Tony" Arroyo



Jose Antonio “Tony” Arroyo, age 64, of Bridgeport, CT and Myrtle Beach, SC passed away suddenly on Friday, June 9, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Rosita Cruz Arroyo. Born in Bridgeport on October 12, 1952, he was a son of the late Antonio and Lucy Vega Arroyo. A U.S. Army veteran, he had served his country honorably. Tony was a dedicated firefighter and served the City of Bridgeport proudly before his retirement in 2006. Tony was a basketball fanatic and followed the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors, who just won the NBA Championship. He was very health conscious and his membership at both Planet Fitness and The Edge led to numerous lasting friendships. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.    

In addition to his beloved wife Rosita of 45 years, other survivors include his children, Tony Arroyo and his wife Christine Arroyo from Wallingford, Emily Rose Arroyo and her husband Roman Gazda of West Haven, William Arroyo and his wife Dana of Ansonia and Cristina Arroyo of Milford. To include five cherished grandchildren, Alex Phouangphiarith and Alana, Alisa, Mason and Max Arroyo, his adored great granddaughter, Adaline June Phouangphiarith. His sister, Betty Rowe and her husband Charley and brothers, William and Albert Arroyo. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucy Arroyo.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton.
