Obituary of Anthony M. Verrilli Jr.

Anthony M. Verrilli, Jr., age 92, of Fairfield and Boynton Beach, FL, beloved husband of the late Marian DelBuono Verrilli, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Community Hospice in Merrimack, NH. Born in Bridgeport on January 7, 1925, he was the son late Anthony and Anna Carfagna Verrilli. Anthony was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy and before his retirement he was a produce wholesaler for many years.

Like most in his Generation, he was a true patriot. He fought bravely with his Navy "buddies" in the pacific theatre. He made the invasion of Saipan and Tinian in 1944. He was proud of his Italian Heritage and was a long time member and on the Board of Directors of the Italian Community Center, Bridgeport. As a young man, Tony was known as Smiley to his Friends. He had boundless energy and was always ready to have a good time. He loved horseshoes, bocce and bowling. He was a fierce competitor who always strived to do better. He had a long retirement that gave him time to travel to more than 60 countries with his wife. In his later years, he looked forward to spending the winters at his home in Boynton Beach Florida. He always made time for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Survivors include three loving children, Anthony J. Verrilli of Hudson, NH, Linda Rainieri and her husband Richard of Shelton and Donna Piccolo and her husband Anthony of Trumbull, a sister, Gloria Gori of VA, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Michael J. Verrilli.

Funeral Services will take place on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 12:00 p.m. in Christ the King Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial.
