Obituary of Michael P. Hoydilla

Michael P. Hoydilla, age 97, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Shirley J. Gritman Hoydilla, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Candlewood Valley Health Care, New Milford, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on May 4, 1919, he was a son of the late John and Mary Maraz Hoydilla. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Michael was a retired truck driver for Associated Transport and Herman Isaacs. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Michael established the 'Moose Club"; in which its only members could be family. The club would often convene in his basement and he would enjoy telling stories and tinkering with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The memories and love he shared will always live on in their hearts. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kristen Noel Chernak, a brother John Hoydilla and a sister, Mary Foote. Survivors include four loving children, Sandra Aurilio and her husband Richard of The Villages, FL, Michael Hoydilla and his wife Denise of Stratford, Virginia (Ginny) Chernak and her husband Robert of Warren and Lisa Hoydilla of Monroe, eight cherished grandchildren, Richard Aurilio and his wife Becky, Joe Aurilio and his wife Alma, Jessie Naidorf and her husband Jeff, Michael Hoydilla, Kevin Hoydilla and his wife Jenn, Matt Hoydilla and his wife Dawn, Lisa Butler and her husband Tom and Robert Chernak and his wife Kate, 15 adored great grandchildren, a brother, Joseph Hoydilla, his godchild, Mary Hoydilla, dear family friend, Elaine Kusheba, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday May 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kennedy Center, 2440 Reservoir Ave, Trumbull, CT 06611.
