Obituary of Vincent Lipinski

Vincent (Vinny) F. Lipinski, age 88, born in Proctor, Vermont in 1928 and a resident of Stratford for over 50 years and Fairfield prior, as well as the devoted husband for 58 years to Josephine Berna Lipinski, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Vinny was employed by Harvey Hubbell's Wiring Device Division of Bridgeport, CT for over 40 years as a Senior Electrical Engineer and was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School of Fairfield, Class of 1947 where he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football, volleyball and track. Vinny also served his country proudly during the Korean War as a member of the Army. He was notorious for not letting anything get in his way and beating any challenge that confronted him. Vinny proved this by the way he lived life, most notably by beating multiple cancers and heart ailments for over 25 years as he surpassed his parents and siblings by 30 years and was even quoted in his high school yearbook that "the atomic bomb isn't very big either." Vinny set the bar very high for his family and friends and would light up a room with his laughter, a story, a joke or a song. He was a onetime member of the Coastal Cordsman and a longtime parishioner of St. Mark's Church in Stratford where he could be seen in the fourth row and heard belting out a hymn with the entire parish for many, many years. Vinny believed in "giving back" to his community and was a proud Stratford YMCA Indian Guides member where he not only served as a chief to his tribe but also to the entire Stratford YMCA Indian Guides and at the regional level as well. He also led Stratford's Chapel Street School's Cub Scout Pack 144 as well as being a Scout Master at the regional level. He was a prior volunteer for the United Way and after retiring, could be seen directing voters at the Stratford polls on Election Day.

In addition to his loving wife, Josephine; Vincent will forever be remembered by his two sons: Stephen of Orlando, FL and Vin of Trumbull, CT along with Vin's wife Diana and Vinny's cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Patrick, Jessica and James. He is also survived by his nephew Michael Visconti of Oxford and his niece Lynette Duhaime and her husband Tom of Stratford as well as his sister-in-law, Denise Lipinski of France, his niece, Veronica Lipinski of France, his nephew Paul Lipinski of Canada and cousins, Francis and Betty Lebinski of Stratford. Also holding a special place in Vinny's heart are Michelle and Matthew Marty of Huntington who he loved as if they were his own grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Paul and Anna Lipinski, his sister Frances and his brother Edward as well as his in-laws Joseph and Rosaria Berna and his sister-in-law Edith Visconti and nephew Larry Visconti.
