Obituary of Harry J. Martin, Jr.

Harry Joseph Martin, Jr, age 87, of Trumbull passed away on March 16 at Bridgeport Hospital. Harry, known as Bud to friends and acquaintances, was born in Bridgeport on April 11, 1929, son of the late Harry and Eva Martin. He was the beloved husband of Anne Kleiner Martin who predeceased him in September 2016. They married on September 2, 1950, and celebrated their 66th Anniversary shortly before Anne passed. They raised two children, Christine and Tim, in Trumbull. Bud graduated from Central High School, Booth & Bayliss Business School and the University of Bridgeport. He was a member of the National Association of Cost Accountants, Co-Chairman, with Anne, of the Long Hill School PTA, a member of the Naval Reserve Unit in Bridgeport, Cub Master of the Long Hill Methodist Church in Trumbull, and head Moderator of the Trumbull Republican party for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In his professional life, Harry was Manager of Staff Accounting at the Bridgeport Brass Company where he worked for 39 years. He also worked as Manager of Internal Auditing at D.M. Read Company, and Accounting Manager of Palmero Sales in Stratford. He was a devoted member of Christ the King Church in Trumbull for over 50 years and was a long-term usher at the 8 a.m. Sunday mass for many years. He was also an ardent supporter of his wife at Grace Episcopal Church in Trumbull. Harry was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Paul Laliberte. His children and their spouses, Christine and John Lockwood of Monroe, Timothy and Diana Martin of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Kathryn Lockwood of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Meghan Lockwood of Stamford, Connecticut, Matthew Martin of Wichita, Kansas and Jeffrey Martin of Boston, Massachusetts; nephew/godson Paul Laliberte of Milford and godson Richard Carlson of Florida; a number of cousins; and lifelong friends and new ones at Spring Meadows in Trumbull survive him. A service will be held at St. Stephens Church in Trumbull, CT on Saturday, April 1 at 2:00. Burial will be private. Donations may be made in Harry's memory to Christ the King Church, Memorial Fund, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull, CT 06611.
